A bit about this site
I developed a love of travel early. In my twenties, took a year off and backpacked solo across the USA, Polynesia, SE Asia, Australia and New Zealand. I learned to scuba dive and paraglide. I also learned how to feel content being alone. As an adult, our family took at least one "big trip" out of the country each year. Now that I am an empty nester, I hope to continue tackling my very long bucket list. I will travel alone, with friends, and with my wonderful husband. Hopefully our children will come too from time to time.

Though I am no longer on a shoe string budget, I appreciate simple travel. Sometimes luxury hotels, though amazing, can feel generic -- like you are at an expensive theme park a few miles away with all the same people from your hometown. That said, I can now afford to be more comfortable, so I try and take care to find a great hotel.

This site is a mix of both mainstream and luxury travel. If I'm somewhere new, I hope to embrace the beautiful, the ugly, and the authentic. My hope is to provide an honest account of the decisions I made. I hope you find this useful as your plan your own adventures.
